The new retro-fashion of the nineties,what is it saying? Is it a reversion back to the polyester pants of the seventies or a statement that the new generation is trying to make? I'll take the latter.

The seductive cuts and fitted styles that the new generation fashion designers seem to focus on only say one thing, sex. Admit it, don't those clothes just seem to get more and more revealing? I think that this shows just how much the new generation values the physical appearance. As shallow as it may seem, I think it is true.

We are a generation of kickboxing and health food. We are not so concerned with "Twiggy" figures, but more of an overall healthy lifestyle.

I think the statement that the new generation is trying to make is one of independence. They will not sink in the shadows, they will stand out in their butterfly collars and velvety pants. They value their individualism more so I think than any generation prior.

This may not even be close to your perception of the new generations "statement", but it is the one I hold.
